Have you ever wondered how people manage to look so sophisticated and gorgeous while you keep looking like a potato in your cheap clothes? Because I do. You may know those people as gods on earth who just has that expensive vibe without even trying. And you have no idea how they do that without them having their closets full of designer pieces. Sometimes it's just in some little things they do to their looks or how they look for clothes and accessories while shopping. I managed to collect some tips on how to look more expensive on a budget.
#1 Invest in basics
First of all, you're going to have to invest in some everyday basics you can pair with everything. Second, they need to fit you perfectly. An example are skinny black pants that complement all of your features, and they go with absolutely everything. That's why they can be a little more expensive, you're surely going to get all the money out of it.
#2 Pay attention to your pieces
What makes clothes look expensive are the fit, the fabric and how well they are made. I think a lot of people don't care about this tip, but this is actually one of my best kept secrets. While shopping, look for the clothes that already look expensive on you. It (secretly) doesn't fit? Are there any threads hanging loose? Does the fabric itself look cheap? Then don't buy it.
#3 Keep it clean
I noticed that a lot of dirt, fuzz or dust makes things look old and cheap. Keep your shoes clean every day and regularly roll little filth out of your clothes. Same with matted fluff on your wool sweaters or shawls. It just takes a moment to keep your clothes clean and it makes so much of a difference.
#4 It's all in the details
The main reason people look expensive is because they have a great base to work with. Here you can add some details like accessories, they will make an outfit looking expensive very fast. But keep it quite, you don't want to overdo. Go for one stand out accessory and keep the rest clean. Going for the big silver studded belt? They go well with little dainty earrings and the simple black bag. When your outfit itself is already a big eye catcher, keep everything a little bit more quit.
#5 Don't try to hard
Never. Overdo. It. You don't have to follow every trend to look expensive and you surely don't have to dress for another person than you. Keep in mind that looking expensive is all about being classy and the upper class always dresses classic.
